Mount Sinai physicians, led by top orthopaedists and radiologists, were courtside at the US Open to help diagnose and treat the professional athletes in need of medical attention during the recent tournament held in Flushing Meadows, Queens. Physicians also were interviewed for their expertise in injury prevention and other topics of interest to the professional—and amateur—athlete, all efforts that showcased Mount Sinai’s position as the official medical services provider for the tennis tournament, the United States Tennis Association (USTA), and the US Davis Cup and US Fed Cup teams. Mount Sinai Physicians Treat Players at the US Open

Two world-class orthopaedists at the Mount Sinai Health System worked behind the scenes at the 2014 US Open, treating an array of health problems incurred by players at the popular tennis tournament, which ran from Monday, August 25, through Monday, September 8, in Flushing Meadows, Queens. The Mount Sinai Hospital is the official hospital of the US Open and the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

The Rundown On The Rotator Cuff

With the US Open upon us, many of us are ready to start gearing up our tennis playing. However, you might ask yourself, are my knees and shoulders up for the challenge? How to Stay Hydrated during the Summer

It’s summer (finally!), and there’s nothing better than some quality playing-time in beautiful weather. But, with the mercury rising, dehydration is a serious concern whether you’re having a marathon practice session or match, and can affect performance when as little as 2% of your body mass is lost through sweat. Since tennis players can lose more than 2.5 liters of sweat per hour in warm weather, it’s easy to fall behind on your fluid intake if you’re not careful.
