Physicians Recognized for Excellence in Patient Care

Before a celebratory audience of staff, family, and friends, four physicians at The Mount Sinai Hospital were recognized by Nursing leadership and nurse colleagues with the 28th Annual Physician of the Year Award at a ceremony held Thursday, November 5, at Hatch Auditorium. Through testimonials and lively presentations, each was saluted for excellence in patient care and taking a leadership role in developing strong collaborative partnerships with nurses.

“These awards celebrate our physician colleagues who demonstrate collegiality with the nursing staff, serve as mentors, and enhance the quality of the practice environment,” said Carol Porter, DNP, RN, FAAN, Edgar M. Cullman, Sr. Chair, Department of Nursing, and Chief Nursing Officer/Senior Vice President, The Mount Sinai Hospital; and Associate Dean of Nursing Research and Education.

David L. Reich, MD, President, The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Queens, told the audience: “I congratulate the four physicians who have been selected by Mount Sinai nurses to receive this prestigious award. Every physician who was nominated should feel a tremendous sense of pride for cultivating patient-care teams that promote clinical excellence.”
